I've noticed this happen a few times now. I find a shot with good light and a good subject, get home, and realize I missed part of the shadow. So I go back to the same spot and try again. Every time it's just not the same. I still take the image, but I end up not liking it. The excitement of finding the light, the subject, and the background all coming together only really happens the first time. Going back to redo it doesn't bring that back.
