Black & white is where I feel most at home. The interplay of light, shadow, and contrast never gets old. But some scenes call for color: a vividness, a texture, a palette that black & white can’t quite capture, or that I haven’t yet learned how to produce in black & white. And on film, I chase something else entirely: the grain, the imperfection, and the nostalgic feel no digital sensor can replicate, along with the thrill of pressing the shutter without knowing how the image will turn out.
